Regular checks of your tyres’ air pressure and tread wear are a basic part of maintaining your Renault. Tyres are not merely the point of contact between the car and the ground, they also have important functions to fulfill including: steering, carrying a load and absorbing road shock.
Tyres that are not regularly checked can become worn or show signs of defects, both of which have implications for your vehicles safety as braking distances can be affected.
Our Renault technicians will gladly check carry out a tyre safety check for you.
In addition to this incorrect tyre pressure can have an effect on fuel economy,
road handling and tyre tread wear.
Each tyre has a wear bar built into the tread, which indicates how much it has worn. The current minimum legal tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm, any tyre below this measurement is illegal and must be replaced.
As an approximate guide, a mm of tyre tread last between 1000 – 4000 miles depending upon driving style, road and weather conditions and tyre rubber compound.
