Thousands of Highland, Moray and Perthshire residents could benefit from a scheme that provides cars for people who receive mobility allowances.
Letters have been sent recently to hundreds of people who qualify and have yet to benefit from the Motability car scheme. Currently thousands of people across the North of Scotland are eligible for the Motability scheme.
All three of Ness Motors dealerships in Inverness, Elgin and Perth are backing the scheme and encouraging people who think they might be eligible to get in touch.
Each branch has two accredited Motability specialists, trained and qualified to advise people on the scheme and register them to receive a Renault car through Motability.
The Perth dealership has just recruited Gary Bell to complete the Motability team alongside his colleague Mark Ramsay.
Gary said: “The Motability scheme is a fantastic way of getting people mobile and in some cases the only cost is fuel for the car, with the mobility allowance covering the costs of a brand new car, road tax, insurance, breakdown assistance and servicing.”
The Motability scheme is open to people who receive the Higher Rate Mobility Component (HRMC) of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS), with at least 12 months' award length remaining.
More than 60 new Renault models and variations are available through the Motability scheme without the need for an advance payment – so you could drive away a new Renault for nothing. In addition there is free metallic paint with every vehicle it supplies through the scheme.
The Motability specialists can also help with any adaptations that may be required as well as finding exactly the right car to suit a person’s mobility needs.
Fully converted vehicles can be ordered through Ness Motors with a Renault Kangoo that is accessible to wheelchair users thanks to modifications that are approved by the manufacturer.
